Using Power Link For Outside Customer Inquiries

Postby MikeN » Thu Oct 16, 2008 4:20 pm

Is anyone using Power Link/Integrator to allow their customers to view
their associated data?

If so what have been the successes and pitfalls you've encountered.

Hi Mike, Not sure this is an answer to your question. If you are planning to use System Link or Net Link you may want to conceder running System Link and Net Link on remote servers. They like a lot of memory. You can also contact Dave Colvin at Infor. Dave can take i5 performance data and help determined any system problems. You can also do some logging of user jobs and check to see if integrator is spending a lot of time creating indexes. Dave Colvin is a good resource for this also.

Using Net Link for Outside Customer Access to data

Postby MikeN » Fri Dec 05, 2008 3:17 pm

R J,

Thanks for your reply and I did get to work with Dave Colvin. He was great. I posted a document in the Shared information are of the blog
regarding what Dave taught me. We are currently piloting our customer portal beating down whatever issues our testing customers encounter.

Take care, thanks for the reply and have a prosperous 2009.

Have you seen the code I posted in the System-Link board?

I know this thread is a bit old but have you ever seen/considered the Catavolt solution that Phil Joseph's group has going now (XAX product). This Uses System Link under the covers, but is quite robust (and very disconnected). ALSO VERY FAST.

I am just getting famliar w/ the tool myself and it's quite impressive. (but one would expect this coming from the originators of IDF/Power Link!). What is amazing about the product is a short learning curve if famliar w/ E/I and also the hosting features are fantastic (they do the messy work for you). Also, security is very tight and the response times in my development so far is outstanding. (Just completed a Vendor Portal for PO Acknowledgements and working on a Distributor Portal to track opportunities).

We got a relatively robust portal up and running to demo to a group with about 5 days of effort. That included the time it took to get a secure connection configured and etablished w/ the hosting site (and training!)
